The later addition of verandas on the flanks and domes significantly hides parts of the original structure that more closely resembles the other examples of Afro-Brazilian church-mosques. Still the bell tower/minaret and inclusion of the clock are prominent features linked to this style.

This image documents the mosque in its original form, which is an even better representation of the Afro-Brazilian model with the clear, square minaret in the center and the ornate scrolled rear pediment.
