The Religion and Film Series screens three to eight films per academic year and is open to all members of the Yale community and the broader public. Screenings open with a brief introduction of the film’s critical reception and content; viewing is followed by audience discussion, led by one or two faculty members with expertise in these fields. Film selections are made on the basis of the film’s potential for generating thoughtful and energetic conversation.
Part of Films at the Whitney supported by the Barbakow Fund for Innovative Film Programs at Yale. Presented with the Center for the Study of Material and Visual Cultures of Religion, the Institute of Sacred Music, the Program in American Studies, the Film Studies Program, and the Department of Religious Studies.
